I Know Your Name

The Story

I was sitting in my office, pondering scripture for a Sermon.  I started thinking about the awesome Name of the Lord.  How His name is a strong tower for the Righteous to run into and be safe; His Name is the Name above all names, and at the mention of His Name every knee will bow.  It is as we abide in Him that we really come to know and trust His Name.

To know His Name is to know Him, the God of Mercy, Grace, Love, Wonder, Magnificence, Holiness, Might and much, much more.  Knowing Him means that I need not fear regardless of the circumstance thrown at me for He is my Deliverer, my Provider, my Life.  I recalled Habakkuk’s words, “Though the fig tree may not blossom…”  I became full of the Lord, excited, undone.  I picked up my guitar and started singing what was to become the chorus of this song, “I know Your name, Your Precious Name…”  The rest of the lyrics soon came!

 Psalm 91 speaks of the need for us to know His Name...to Know Him!
